Microsoft is following the plan when it comes to the new Surface Pro 10 variants. That’s acceptable to us. The “Windows on a tablet” experience that Microsoft had been chasing for years was finally achieved thanks to this winning strategy. Similar in appearance and feel to the Surface Pro 9, the Surface Pro 10 for Business is: They each include an aluminum frame, a fold-out rear stand, a 13-inch PixelSense touch screen, two 2-watt stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and weigh 1.95 pounds.
The ability of the Surface Pro tablets to function as excellent Windows 2-in-1 laptops with an integrated Type Cover keyboard is one of its best features. One of the greatest things about the Surface Pro tablets has always been the display. A 13-inch LCD touch display with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,920 pixels is included on the Surface Pro 9 and Pro 10 for Business. With the Surface Pro 10 for Business, the Intel Core Ultra SoC steals the show. The new tablet can be purchased with a Core Ultra 5 135U or Core Ultra 7 155U, with 32GB or 64GB of RAM, respectively, for the Ultra 5 model. While there is a performance increase over the previous generation thanks to these 12-core CPUs, that is not the main change.
The Intel AI Boost integrated neural processing unit (NPU) is the most notable feature of the Core Ultra CPUs. With generative AI processes taking center stage in a growing number of productivity apps, Intel AI Boost was designed specifically to address them. As with the display, the change that has us the most enthused is the new Arm-based Snapdragon X Elite that is included with the standard Surface Pro 10. It is still stunning, though.
For the Surface Pro 9, an Intel Core i5-1235U or Core i7-1255U CPU from the 12th generation can be configured. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chip serves as the foundation for the 5G version, which employs Microsoft’s SQ3 CPU. Notwithstanding the SQ3’s excellent performance and straightforward battery life, the Intel Core variants performed better in our benchmark testing. It should come as no surprise that the Surface Pro 10 for Business has more raw power than the Pro 9.
The camera capability of the Surface Pro 10 for Business is another area of excellence. Better than the Surface Pro 9, the front-facing Surface Studio Camera now supports 1440p and has a broader 114-degree field of view for video conversations. The Pro 9’s 128GB SSD, which we believe is too small for a daily device in 2024, has also been upgraded to a 256GB SSD for base storage. Upgrades like those are much appreciated on a business device like this one.

With the SQ3 CPU, the Surface Pro 9’s 46.5-watt-hour battery performs admirably because of the remarkably power-efficient Arm chipset. We used that model for eight to one and a half hours during our tests. Regretfully, the Intel Core variations’ daily endurance isn’t as good, mostly because of the display’s power-hungry 120Hz refresh rate.
That should be fixed, or at least improved, by the Surface Pro 10’s more efficient Core Ultra CPUs. We still need to do further testing with the 48Wh battery in the updated model because its functional life is yet unknown. If the next model deviates significantly from the Surface Pro 9 with Intel technology, we’ll be shocked.

The Surface Pro 10 for Business, as its name suggests, is not intended for individual consumers like you; rather, it is designed with businesses and other organizations in mind. As such, it is devoid of some enhancements that users with a keen eye for technology could find desirable, such an OLED screen. We advise everyday customers to choose the Surface Pro 9 over the Surface Pro 10 for Business if they don’t require the newest and greatest.
